CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP
Full Active: Individuals over 18 years of age (except those individuals duly elected to Junior Membership) duly elected to membership who have paid an initiation fee as provided in the by-laws. They shall have full voting privileges and the right to hold office. A member's spouse and unmarried dependents under age 25 shall be entitled to the privileges of the Club.
Associate: Individuals over eighteen years of age (except those individuals duly elected to Junior Membership), not maintaining a boat at the Club, duly elected to membership, who have paid an initiation fee as set forth in the by-laws. Such members do not have the right to vote or to hold office.
Junior: Individuals between the ages of 18 and 28 years, duly elected to membership who have paid an initiation fee as provided in the by-laws. Such members shall not have the right to vote, hold office or have private parties, but may maintain a boat at the Club. Guests of such members at the Club shall be limited to crew and family. Junior Membership shall terminate on January 1 following such member's 28th birthday.
Non-Resident: Former Active or Associate Members whose initiation fees were paid in full, and who have moved over 200 miles from Nashville. Change to Non-Resident status must be approved by the Board of Governors, and such Non-Resident Members shall not vote nor hold office. When visiting in Nashville, they shall have full use of the Club's facilities, and shall at times receive the Anchorline, Yearbook, and other mailings. Should a Non-Resident Member move back to Nashville, he may apply to the Board of Governors for reinstatement as an Active or Associate Member without double payment of initiation fees.
BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
HIYC Members are allowed many benefits based on membership level. The following benefits are universal for members:
- Use of clubhouse facilities, such as bathrooms, kitchen, grills
- Use of launching ramp
- Use of courtesy dock (48 hr limit)
- Use of HIYC's shared club boats (Catalina 22)
- Participation in HIYC events, such as the July 4th Celebration, Regattas, Educational Events, etc.
- Dock waiting list (requires member to contact Rear Commodore to be entered into the waiting list)
- Delivery of the HIYC newsletter, "The Anchorline"
Full Active members are allowed the following benefits in addition to the universal benefits:
- Ability to keep a boat at HIYC
- Use of grounds and/or mooring fleet for boat storage pending availability. Space awarded by seniority.
- Allowed to hold private parties with attendance limitation with Board approval
- Voting rights at all quarterly meetings
- Ability to serve on HIYC Board of Governors to lead and direct HIYC's course into the future
Associate members are allowed only the universal benefits:
- No additional benefits are allowed at this level of membership
Junior members are allowed the following benefits in addition to the universal benefits:
- Ability to keep a boat at HIYC
- Use of grounds and/or mooring fleet for boat storage
- Allowed to hold private parties for 5 or less, pending Board approval
DUES
Full Active: $225 + tax/Quarter - One time initiation fee $500 + tax
Associate: $112.50 + tax/Quarter - One time initiation fee $100 + tax
Junior: $40 + tax/Quarter - One time initiation fee $55 + tax
Non-Resident: $45 + tax/Quarter - Only available to Full Active and Associate Members who have moved out of the area.
Initiation fee for full active membership may be paid in full, or with a $32.78 service charge/5 monthly payments of $100 + tax, or with a $65.55 service charge/10 monthly payments of $50 + tax.
Junior Membership status is for members 27 years old and younger. Being this young at heart does not qualify!
